I know I get the latest pass in Joburg, but I’m obsessing over MAIN STREET LIFE. My gawd! If I don’t buy a place there, I might just purchase a cardboard box and squat outside.
I’m telling you, this place kills me DIE. It’s a newish development at the corner of Main, Maritzburg and Fox Streets. Developed by Jonathan Liebmann (the man behind Arts on Main), it’s way hotter than your average block of fletse (yes, fletse)…
Besides your regular living spaces, there are also studios to do your creative crap in, shops, a rooftop venue and the beautiful 12 Decades Hotel.
The 12 Decades Hotel is a boutique hotel with 12 suites, each representing a decade of Joburg’s existence. Each suite is decorated by designers from different disciplines such as Black Coffee’s Jacques van der Watt and Love Jozi.
There’s a confectionary on the ground floor – Malva – to sort out my weird cake cravings (sorry Wolves, but if I move I’ll need a new cake shop). And let’s not forget The Bioscope (perfect, hot name), which, if you haven’t figured out by now, is an independent cinema.
But … There’s more…
If I don’t get my ish together and somehow don’t manage to move there, I can still use the facilities (the rooftop’s bar, boxing and yoga, the laundromat and have access to the internets) for a cool R1 000 membership fee.
See more on this amazing building here and here. Oh, and if there are any potential sugar daddies out there, please shout me a holla and hook me up with a studio? Dankie!

Cool! I just bought a studio (one of the big ones, but not a penthouse). On a corner, facing south – so windows all round with beautiful views. Can’t move there just yet, so holler if you know anyone interested in renting it!
